Crazy Bear and Ragged Staff - Outings - Berkeley - 2001

Home Outings Berkeley 2001

First off thanks to Steve for organising what is my most memorable and enjoyable tournament. This despite the copious quantities of alchol that were consumed as the diary makes clear. I like to think of Hordes of the Things, HOTT hereafter, as a creation that escaped from its creator. I am sure Richard Bodley Scott is a perfectably nice bloke but my meeting with him showed such a wide gulf that neither of us could cross it. I expected a witty, urban but inherantly fun person. What I found was someone who had levered himself out of the competitve morass that is DBM gaming but had failed to understand that Phil and his stroke of genius was just that, a one-off. Anyone who analyses HOTT in an attempt to win has missed its very essence, which is pure fun.

Its creator aside I found the rest of the people there like minded loonies, if a bit tame. Alan was atrue gentleman as always. Thomo his ebulient self, a man that the phrase larger than life was coined for. The lads from Behind the Lines didn't even blink when I just started taking things off their stall and settled up with them later.

They don't like it up them
Leaping into bad going those colonial lasses stick it to some Funky Death Mice.
Down the Table
The view down the table.
Up the Table
The view up the table.
Slow Boy
The slowest and grinniest HOTT player ever.
